ello there!
I ve been wanting a triangle top for a while now, I even tried using a bikini top and sewing material on the cups, which didnt work by the way.
I read here that it was better to buy one a size larger if one was to do that. Anywho I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as far as any vendors are concerned that custom make these tops.
Thanks a bunch,
Crystal

Re: triangle halter tops
06/25I copied a bikini top that fit just right using swimsuit fabric, double layered with great success. It actually was easier than trying to cover a bra, and doesn't require a lot of fabric or time, so if you mess up, you aren't out much. I did end up sewing on a lot of the decorations while wearing the top so they were in the right place when it was stretched. -

Hey, you asked! I make custom halters, up to a 46DDD so far. tribes.tribe.net/angeldmort

The tops themselves aren't hard to make, themselves, once you have the pattern figured out, but anything larger than a B is going to need darts and curves and support, so the whole 'simple triangle of fabric' idea starts to fail. Most problems come from using too narrow a triangle which ends up not covering at the sides once you start pinching it in under the boobs and then on the sides to avoid the 'side fallout.' Next is the 'pointy boob' problem, where the darts bring it in underneath, but make a noticeable point. And the 'flat boob' where the need to contain things results in making the top tight instead of fitted.
Do you want to make one, or just have one? If you aren't wanting to say 'I made this' then yes, drop me a line, and we'll get you set up with a triangle halter. For that matter, drop me a line if you want to make it, too. I'll do what I can to help via email.

06/26Are you still making Ghawazee Coats? Why oh Why couldn't I have seen this post three days ago when I ordered a new one from somewhere else?! I might still like to get some done and I am digging the fact that you sew for gals of larger porportions like myself! -

06/27Actually, I just cut a few out for ebay n this great fabric I got, - two color schemes of the same stuff. Purple and black in these ethnic designs in stripes, and the same in red and black stripe. Send me some measurements, and we will get you going!

Re: triangle halter tops
07/03It depends on the bikini top you use. There is a slight difference between the triangle tops & the halter tops. I find that the triangle tops have less material to work with & are more of a challenge to add to. I was successful with it, (my peacock costume top on my profile) but it took a lot of tweeking to get it right & I had to add quite a bit of padding because the shape got lost. Halter tops have more fabric to work on & I made a coin bra out of it with more ease...added much less padding too.
