I have decided to document my attempt to make a coin bra, complete with successes and failures. So far, I have fortified one of the cups with heavy interfacing. Will be doing the other side once I get a thimble.
check it out here and please please give any suggestions you may have.

I am sort of at a loss for what to do with the connector between the cups. should that also have interfacing? I'm not sure. Thoughts?

Re: Coin Bra Attempt in Progress
Tue, June 30, 2009 - 11:02 PMFor attaching the cups in the center, I use a decorative 'frog' or hook and eye, like these:

Then I use it as a front close. It's kind of cool because you can really pull the bra together tight for a solid fit and extra, um, cleavage ;0) -

Center
Wed, July 1, 2009 - 2:47 AMIf you are not opening in center, then yes, recommend you reinforce the front connector and reshape it (widen it) as well by sewing a piece of grosgrain between and to the lower front cup edges. -

Re: Center
Wed, July 1, 2009 - 6:12 PMHmmmm... wider, you say. I'll have to hold it up and see. So far, I think it is pretty well situated, but who knows. -

Re: Center
Wed, July 1, 2009 - 6:58 PMThere are several reasons I suggest wider center (makes it look more like a costume and less like lingerie, stablizes the horizontal pull, etc) but the one you'll really like is when you start attaching your coin drape and you notice that you now have a good sized, reinforced center to sew your important center coin to!

Thu, July 9, 2009 - 6:37 AMAlso if you don't want a front close you can purchases saddle rings and place them on the sides toward the back. Then all you need it a tie. Similar to this viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm -

Mon, July 13, 2009 - 7:13 AMI like that idea. It would make size changes easier to deal with if I decided that I wanted to eat nothing but donuts. -
