Headdresses

I have searched the posts quite far back. I just couldn't seem to find anything that showed a headband off of a head, to see the construction better.
Are some flowers attached to the headband ones? Or are all flowers mostly clipped directly into one's hair?
I'm smack dab between Dallas and Shreveport. It going to be awhile before I see these real time.
Thanks ladies!

Everyone does them differently -- depending on what you want. Some people do each piece separately, so they can mix & match, some sew/glue everything onto the headdress. Here's some pic of mine (with everything sewn on) off of the head: www.etsy.com/view_listing.php I would recommend:

    * a soft headdress (vs a hard headband), reinforced with interfacing & backed with something that'll grip your hair, like tweed or velvet
    * sewing on wig clips ( img.diytrade.com/cdimg/824...l_Clip.jpg ) to help secure it to your head
    * sewing rather than glueing for longevity

Any tips on where to find these wig clips? I stopped by Sally today but didn't find them.

To clarify, tips on possible local sources? I'm not entirely sure I want to trust the mail system right now with less than two weeks to show time.

You want to go to a hair store that has track/weft hair (hair on a long track that you use to make extensions from). Sally's will not have them (I generally try to boycott Sally's, presonally, between their lack of quality & outrageous prices). Where are you in Missouri? If you're near the KC area, PM me & I'll tell you of a few good places.

I'm in Springfield. I'm not sure where to find a store like that, but I'm sure there is one. I think there was a hair extension place in the mall...I haven't been there in a while, so I'm not sure if it's still there.

You could try calling a local salon that does hair extensions, or calling a local wig shop, to see if they know where to find them. If you ever make it up to KC, there are several places in town that do.

I don't know of many sites that show everything in Detail. I did find some photos on ebay.
Because I was dissatified with my research, I started creating my own headdresses. Most of my clients like having everything attached to the headband. I usually send them pictures along with measurements so that they can see how high the headdress would before and after I add items. My non belly dance clients like pieces that clip on to their hair.

I have one of Bellatrix's headdresses and it is awesome! She has sewn everything on securely and the wig-clips hold like glue to your hair when they're clipped in. The flowers are on one side with feathers on the other. I suppose if you want flower overload you could put them on both sides but the you run the risk of looking like a flowery Princess Leia if you choose ones that are too big! IMHO it would save you a lot of trouble to buy a headdress and then you can examine the basic construction and decide on what design works for you, plus you get an awesome costume piece!

Yes, thank you. Trying to coordinate a trip with someone familiar with Ft Worth. I know Dallas very well but not Ft Worth.

I just purchased one of Bellatrix's as well. Thanks for the over flower tip! I was going to add more flowers, but I will find one that suits my needs.
