In addition to the above, I take a Q-tip to my forehead and clean the makeup or oil from the spot where I want to place the bindi, using a little makeup remover or alcohol on the Q-tip and then let it dry before sticking on a bindi. That helps to keep the back of the bindi free of makeup and oil buildup and lets me re-use the bindi a few more times.

I found that liquid latex works very well and it's easier to clean up. Spirit gum tended to be diffcult for me to remove from my skin. Latex has been a good alternative.

False eye lash glue. I also use it the first time I wear the bindi because it helps it stick better. I've never lost one since I started doing this.

Since I use surgical glue (that's what they sell at MAC for eyelashes), I don't see why it would be a problem. If it's delicate enough to go next to your eyes, your face can certainly handle it! It's very easy to remove too - just rolls right off the skin little nifty little booger.

        Nice visual, huh?

Don't be afraid - the answer to your problem is Super glue - I am totally not kidding. It works well for me because I sweat when I dance and there is nothing sillier than a crooked bindi. Super glue was originally formulated for surgery to be used instead of stitches, which is why it bonds skin so well. Try it! Facial skin exfoliates so fast that your bindi will come off in your next shower.

Spirit gum, spirit gum, spirit gum!!! I've used it for years, and I have a few bindis I've used more than 10 times. You can usually stock up on it during Halloween at any store, but ebay also has it.
If you put it on, bindis NEVER come off. If you are using small crystals or tiny little bindis, be sure to use tweezers.
One thing... don't spill spirit gum... it's a serious pain to get out of stuff.
