I'm not sure how to wear it, the chains do not hook and I think I need to sew it to something. What is usually done? I was thinking about sewing it to a bra but it is larger than the bra. The person I got it from suggested wearing it over a sports bra!!??! I really want to wear it but need HELP!!!!

anyone?

I think people will need more info in order to help you. If you can post a picure or link that would be great.
Is the coin bra light coins linked with jump rings, or are the coins sewn to bra cups? The bras I'm most familiar with are regular bras covered with decorative fabric and coins sewn over the fabric.
You mention that "it is larger than the bra". Do you mean your regular, everyday bra, or did the coin bra come with another bra?

No, the coin bra didn't come with another bra, I was just thinking of a plain black one. The coins are all linked with rings, I wish I could just wear it plain :o

If you wear it over a choli or tunic you wouldn't need to sew it to a bra, though of course you do need to deal with the chain/strap issue. If you want to keep it chain you could get extension chain at a craft store. Or you could replace the chain with ribbon/fabric straps. That would probably be more comfortable.
If you want to wear it without something underneath you should probably sew it to a bra. It will be more comfortable than bare metal and you won't show anything accidentally. Take the coin bra to the store and find a bra with cups that fit the coin cups. Dance bras are generally a bit bigger than underwear bras. You want the extra coverage when that's the only thing between you and the world.

Do you mean one of these things?

Hope that link works. If not try: tinyurl.com/yusd5v

Anyway, I had one of those and never did actually wear it outside of Estrella War one night. It constantly came apart and dropped coins when I danced, the straps tangled and cut into your skin (neck was painful!), and it snagged on everything. Darn thing. No idea what happened to it after that one war. I didn't bother to sew it to a bra ever, I just wore it over a tunic, but I don't see why that wouldn't work. Put in a couple of tacking stitches in strategic places to hold it to the bra, that ought to do it.

Thanks Megan, that is very much like the one I have only the chains are smaller. I really want to be able to wear it. Is that what people generally do? tack them to a bra and remove the excess chain with needle nose pliers? I'd hate to think of it snagging and ruining anything though :(

Yes, that's what I've heard of people doing. If it's just put on ontop of a bra, it may shift around, making it look like you're just wearing your underwear underneath. What excess chain? Do you mean the chain that fastens in back? Does it not reach around to fasten in back? You could always head to a bead store and buy some matching cahin to fill in the gap in back. Otherwise, cutting it off would be an option. You'd just be breaking/openning the chain in one spot. It shouldn't damage anything else. And, if you want to put them back on, buy more jump rings to reattach them.

I had a bra like this when I first started and I sewed it to a plain black bra, although I made some modification to the bra before I sewed the chain bra on it... It almost looked like a bathing suit top with the ties that I added and then I just sewed on the chain bra. It took forever because I did it by hand and I sewed every link to the bra... It was a pain, but at the time that is all I could afford...
